Open Day in Metha des Bosquets, FR
140 Nm³/h BIOGEST-PowerRing biomethane plant”
Over 26,000 tons of cattle manure, slurry, and other agricultural by-products are processed per year
Providing green gas for France’s gas grid
CHANGE, FRANCE / METHA DES BOSQUETS, FRANCE: BIOGEST co-sponsored the open door day of the biomethane plant in Metha des Bosguets last Saturday to numerous interested visitors. As part of a festive open day, guests had the opportunity to view the innovative plant up close and gain exciting insights into its operation during guided tours.
The PowerRing plant processes over 26,000 tons of organic residues per year, including cattle and pig manure as well as other agricultural by-products. Around 75% of the substrate comes from 11 regional farms, which actively contribute to the energy independence of their region. The 140 Nm³/h of biomethane produced is fed directly into the local gas grid and covers the average gas requirements of around 800 households.
In addition to energy production, a high-quality organic fertilizer is created, which is made available to the farmers. This not only enables considerable cost savings, but also reduces the need for imported synthetic fertilizers – further contributing to sustainable agriculture and resource conservation.
